Equipment based live workshops are designed to educate fitness, medical and wellness professionals in the theory and exercises of the late Joseph H. Pilates as well as the proper use of various pieces of Pilates equipment. These hands-on teacher training workshops include tutoring from a PIA Master Teacher Trainer as students learn the philosophy, principles and teaching tips for varying degrees of Pilates instruction on the Reformer , Cadillac, Chair and Barrels.
Those wishing to receive a teaching certificate must attend a review and testing workshop and successfully complete the practical and written exams. Upon completion of all equipment workshops and 6-12 months of teaching time, students are eligible to attend the Advanced Studio Workshop.
Certificates of completion and continuing education credits are supplied at the end of the workshop. Actual teaching certificates are earned after attending the appropriate review and testing workshops, receiving passing grades on both exams and after completion of the teaching hours. All certificates are renewable every two years with 15 hours of continuing education.
